12/12/12

In class everyone did there presentations based on their projects. Personally, I think our group did good except for a few things here and there. I didn't talk during the presentation of my group, but I controlled the computer to switch the slides from one to another. Before we did the presentations, we all received a piece of paper. On the paper we were supposed to grade each others presentations out of 100 and make comments based on a list of questions we received. Of course, I gave my group the highest grade. We also had to do how much of the work percentage everyone did in our groups. Since we had 5 people in my group, I had to split the percentages among us. Mr. Schick also said that out of the class that had gone prior to us, our class was the most prepared and had the best presentations.

12/11/12

We worked on our project today. Since my group finished all the computer and slide show work, we made our advertisement. My group decided to make our ad on a poster instead of on a computer. I brought the paper and Maria brought the coloring supplies. She brought these huge markers that were actually poster sharpies, kind of paint like. So we colored and designed our poster. Since we were comparing shoes made in China and American, we decided to draw a foot and color the sole of the foot red and white stripes. With the toes, we colored it blue then added white stars with white out that we got from Mr. Schick. Tomorrow we present our projects so hopefully my group will do well and I think we will.

Today in class we worked on our project. My group is Doori, Maria, Kristen, Holly, and me. We are supposed to convince people to buy American-made goods over Chinese-made goods. We are telling people why they should buy shoes that are made in America instead of buying shoes made from China. We didn’t start the project at all over the weekend, but we were very productive in class today. We finished the entire project today in class. Tomorrow we are going to make our poster to advertise the American-made goods. I research one of the two American shoe products and wrote about it in the slide. I also helped come up with ideas on why American companies are better than Chinese companies. Some of the reasons are that the American companies don’t produce as much pollution. Also, American companies have higher safety standards. For tomorrows class I’m supposed to bring in the paper for our advertisement.

12/5/12

Today in class we talked about the four vocabulary words we had to define when we got into class. Mr. Schick wanted us to use different websites instead of the normal, but I used dictionary.com still. I even cited where I got the definitions from so I didn't plagarise without giving credit. I also added my own definitions to the bottom of the information from dictionary.com The four words we had to define were capitalism (which I defined for the class), free enterprise, communism, and free market. Mr. Schicks blog said to add the definitions to tonight post, but I already made a post for that so I'm just going to have two different posts. Mr Schick keeps getting mad at our class because we talk to much, especially when other people are trying to talk.

12/4/12

Today in class we continued to watch part 3 of the capitalism in China. But before we could do that, several people were absent from class yesterday so we reviewed what happened yesterday in the movie and what we did in class. The part of the movie we watched today was more about how the transportation of China has transformed with the exposure of cars in China. The Chinese car brand, Likand, is expected to grow increasingly because it is cheaper and more affordable than the world-wide brands like Ford. They are also expected to be one of the world's largest car producers in the world. I also learned that China is one of the biggest producers and users of steel because of the car industry. In fact, there are no very large steel companies in USA because most of the big companies either moved to China or became bankrupt because everyone was getting cheaper steel from China.

12/3/12

Today in class we watched part 3 of the Capitalism in China. We skipped part 2 for unknown reasons. Part three talks about how all of the people used to ride bikes to get around the major cities in China, but now people use cars. China is increasing by thousands of new people buying cars everyday. For many people, it is the first car in their family history. A few decades ago, only rich people, political people, and foreigners had cars. Today, more and more middle class people are able to purchase a car. 9 out of 10 people who buy cars use cash. They were also showing the constructions of major highways. In America, what we would have machines do, people in China are doing. By people doing these jobs  they take a lot longer to complete. We also got our essays back. I got a 99% so I'm pretty happy with that.
